Virat Kohli Century

Last night’s century by Virat Kohli was just amazing! On the field, he truly showed off his abilities and tenacity. With this being his eighth IPL century, he is now without a doubt the league’s greatest century producer. His stroke selection and timing were flawless, confusing the opposing bowlers. It was such a pleasure to see him achieve his goal! Moments like these serve as a reminder of why Kohli is regarded as one of the all-time great batsmen.

Virat Kohli century got his first century of the season during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, following a century-less start to a high-scoring IPL 2024. It was his eighth IPL century in his career, still the most by any player in the history of the competition. However, RR opener Jos Buttler, who struck an incredible 100* to give the home club their fourth straight win, outclassed the undefeated knock of 113. After the game, Kohli gave Buttler an incredibly touching gesture, even if he was denied the opportunity to win the match.

The Dynamic Duo of RCB

With skipper Faf, which stands du Plessis thankfully returning to form and joining forces with Kohli to put together an explosive opening stand of 125 runs, RCB got the match off to a strong start. But once Du Plessis was removed from the game, it was all up to the former captain of the Royal Challenge Bangalore (RCB) to lead the team. He took the early lead and amassed an undefeated 113, which was his third century in the previous seven IPL games. It was also the joint-slowest IPL century, coming off 67 balls.

Buttler-Samson Partnership Overpowers RCB’s Total

183 was immediately shown to be insufficient, even though Kohli considered it a “effective total”. Buttler and RR skipper Sanju Samson stitched a 148-run stand, with the latter reaching his second half-century score of the season. With some quick wickets at the conclusion of the game, RCB was able to hold onto the match; nevertheless, Buttler ended the match without losing after hitting the winning run with a six over mid-wicket in his 100th IPL match. This prevented any possibility of a dramatic final over.

Kohli’s Smooth Lift of His Hand to Buttler

Even though he was denied his moment in the spotlight, Kohli was among the first to congratulate Buttler on his knock and give him a hug after it ended the contest. Following the post-match activities, the two even shared a photo on Instagram, which the Indian Premier League shared on its official account.

Virat Kohli’s Humble Reflections on Victory

Just managed to cross the rope with a little bit of luck, lucked out the timing, and celebrated the victory. No matter how long you’ve played the game, those tensions and worries persist. The mind is a powerful tool; all you need to do is persevere, work hard, and sometimes good fortune will find you. It will all work out eventually, and sometimes you have to convince yourself that. Even though I only scored 13, I felt pretty fantastic in the final game,” he remarked after winning Player of the Match.
