New Format Unveiled for Expanded Tournament

With the expanded lineup of 20 teams, the T20 World Cup will feature a revamped format:

  • Group Stage: An initial group stage comprising four groups of five teams each, where the top two from each group will progress to the ‘Super Eight’ stage.
  • Super Eight: Two groups of four teams each in the ‘Super Eight’ phase, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
  • Semi-finals and Final: The tournament will culminate with the top four teams competing in the semi-finals, followed by the championship final. This new format promises heightened competition and global representation in the T20 World Cup.
