Powerplays are very crucial for both Batting and Bowling teams as the Performance of the team can impact the whole match and it will increase the confidence of the Teams if it goes well for them. India’s senior-most T20I bowler Bhuvaneswar has the ability to trouble the Batsman right from the very first ball if the pitch supports Swung the deliveries. He had a unique record of taking 16 wickets in the very first over of T20I. In the meanwhile, no other Indian fast bowler took more than 3 wickets in this over. He also had an Economy of just 5.78 with 41 wickets in the first six overs of the game which makes him a very integral part of the team in Powerplays.

Along with Bhuvi India has Bumrah who is the main man in the bowling unit with 6.30 Economy and 23 wickets to his name in this phase. Young bowler Avesh Khan had given some good starts by taking 8 wickets in 13 games at an Economy of just 6.71. Along with these three fast bowlers, India has a good set of Spinners who can bowl Economical in Powerplays by having Wicket Taking Abilities. Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin contributed with the ball in the powerplay several Times. In fact, he is the second in the list of Indian bowlers to take most wickets in the First over of the game with 4 wickets to his name and overall 17 wickets at 7.66 Economy. Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja also have the ability to be a firecracker in Powerplays.

A Lot of spin bowling options with a couple of good fast bowlers in Mid Innings:

If India had any phase where there were a lot of bowling options with less Economy and wicket-taking ability then it’s going to be Middle overs. Be it Ashwin, Chahal, Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshal Patel, or Bumrah all these bowlers have an Economy of less than 8 with a good number of wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal leads the wickets here with Whopping 64 wickets. But his senior spin Ravi Ashwin bowler is ahead of Yuzi in terms of Economy at just 6.22 with 37 wickets when compared to Yuzvendra Chahal’s 7.96.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya picked up 37 wickets in this phase which is the most for any Indian Fast bowler. Harshal Patel picket 11 for just 6.85 Economy. And Jasprit Bumrah is leading the Fast Bowling department with just an Economy of 6.00 with 13 wickets.

Can Bumrah’s return fills the Death Over Inconsistency faced in Asian Cup:

Like Bhuvaneswar Kumar in Powerplays, Jasprit Bumrah is Arguably India’s best in Death overs. Out of 15 games, he bowled in 20th over of the game he had picked 11 wickets with just 8.14 Economy which is very very impressive for any bowler in this Batting Dominated Era. Even young Arshdeep Singh has picked 5 wickets out of 6 innings he bowled 20th over. Bumrah leads the wickets in 17-20 overs with 34 wickets at 7.30 Economy.

Bhuvaneswar who has an Economy of 5.78 in Powerplay has Drastically fallen down in Death Overs with 9.36 which is a difference of 3.58, yet he leads the wickets after Bumrah with 32. Allrounder Hardik Pandya picked 14 at 7.86 Economy. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur were maintaining a good number of wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin is only the bowler who is maintaining 10+ wickets with less than 10 Economy in this Phase.

But the one who really impressed me is the new sensation Arshdeep who almost Defended 7 runs twice in Asian Games. Within such a short time he is already in the top 10 wicket takers for India in Death with 8 wickets by having Just a Very Very good Economy of 6.57 which is even a dream for many great bowlers and even Indian Pace Machine Bumrah didn’t achieve it.
