The Rohit Sharma-led team, who will compete in the Asia Cup, gathered in Bangalore on August 23 for a five-day training session before travelling to Sri Lanka on September 2 for their season-opening match against bitter rivals Pakistan.
According to rumours, fitness tests would be required of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja during this camp. Virat Kohli just posted a tale on Instagram referencing his recent yo-yo Test results.
Virat showed his joy at clearing the fitness test with a perfect “17.2” score. “The relief of completing the dreadful cones test with a yo-yo. 17.2 completed,” Virat wrote in his narrative.
Following the changes to the rules, a 16.5 is needed to pass the yo-yo test. Virat has made his results public, while Rohit and Jadeja’s results are not yet available.
In order to ensure that the players are as fit as possible for the crucial World Cup in 45 days, the Indian management and the BCCI have devised a rigorous skill camp.
In order to ensure that the hitters receive adequate net practise without wearing out the major bowlers, the Roger Binny-led board organised 14 net bowlers for the camp as part of the training.
There are 14 net bowlers in the Asia Cup training camp. Quality net sessions must be maintained without depleting the bowling resources.
