Mumbai Indians faced yet another setback in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they lost to Gujarat Titans on Sunday, March 24. Despite their efforts, Mumbai Indians couldn’t chase down the target of 169 runs set by Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Madi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha provided Gujarat Titans with a strong start after being put in to bat first. However, Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional bowling performance halted their momentum. Despite the pitch conditions proving challenging, Sai Sudharsan managed to contribute 45 runs off 39 balls. A late surge by Rahul Tewatia helped Gujarat Titans reach a total of 168 runs.

Mumbai Indians’ Innings

In their chase, Mumbai Indians were propelled by solid performances from Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis. While Sharma scored 43 runs off 29 balls, Brevis contributed 46 runs off 38 balls before getting dismissed in the 16th over. However, Mumbai Indians struggled to accelerate in the final overs, with Tim David and Tilak Varma adopting a defensive approach against Rashid Khan. Hardik Pandya’s late cameo, scoring a six and a four in the final over, wasn’t enough as Mumbai Indians fell short by 6 runs, failing to reach their target.
