In a recent Indian Premier League match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, India’s legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took a humorous yet corrective stance towards Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young all-rounder Abhishek Sharma.
The Incident
Abhishek Sharma, displaying a brief yet impressive stint, scored a brisk 37 runs off just 12 balls during SRH’s chase of 166 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. However, his promising innings was cut short by a regrettable shot in the third over bowled by Deepak Chahar.
Yuvraj Singh’s Response
Yuvraj Singh, who had recently praised Abhishek’s talents, couldn’t resist offering a piece of advice to the budding cricketer. Expressing his support with a touch of humor, Yuvraj took to his social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, to share his thoughts. He tweeted, “I’m right behind you boy well played again – but bad shot to get out on.”
Yuvraj’s Encouragement
This wasn’t the first time Yuvraj had acknowledged Abhishek’s prowess. Previously, when Abhishek scored a rapid 50 off 16 balls against Mumbai Indians, Yuvraj had commended him, accompanied by a playful remark.
Match Recap
Despite Abhishek’s early departure, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious against defending champions CSK, securing a convincing six-wicket win. Abhishek’s contribution in the powerplay significantly bolstered SRH’s position. However, CSK’s Aiden Markram’s dismissal by Moeen Ali, shortly after completing his half-century, and the subsequent removal of Shahbaz Ahmed by Moeen, added some tension to the game.
Next Challenge
With their second consecutive win, Sunrisers Hyderabad currently sits fifth in the points table. Their next IPL encounter is against Punjab Kings, scheduled to take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Punjab on April 9th.
