On Monday, Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, found himself at the centre of a social media uproar. The 28-year-old cricketer was rumoured to be getting married after the ODI World Cup later this year in October and November, according to reports on numerous sites.
The rumours gained popularity after a fan page on X stated, “Babar Azam is set to marry in November after the World Cup.”
A family member later addressed the facts in a conversation with a Cricket Pakistan correspondent, putting the rumours to rest.
The family official denied the wedding rumours in a direct statement.
They made it clear that Babar isn’t rushing into marriage and instead wants to focus on cricket right now.
The statement added that Babar’s top priority is still to succeed for Pakistan. Currently, his main goal is to play well for his club on the pitch. It is predicted that it would be at least a year before the captain dons the groom’s apparel, therefore Babar’s supporters will need to be patient.
Pakistan’s team will be led by Babar Azam at the ODI World Cup, which gets underway on October 5 in India. He is focused on doing his best and elevating his nation.
