Rishabh Pant Surpasses Virat Kohli in ICC Test Rankings

ICC Test Rankings

In a major update to the ICC Test Rankings, India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has climbed to the sixth spot, surpassing teammate Virat Kohli. Pant’s rise came after his aggressive knock of 99 runs in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand, which helped him move up three spots.

Meanwhile, despite his crucial 70-run contribution in Bengaluru, Kohli slipped down to seventh place. Yashasvi Jaiswal, another Indian opener, remains the country’s highest-ranked Test batter at fourth place.

Indian Players in the Rankings

  • Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, dropped two positions to share 15th place with Dimuth Karunaratne of Sri Lanka.
  • In the bowlers’ rankings, Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead for India, followed closely by teammate R. Ashwin. Ravindra Jadeja also remains a strong presence in the seventh position.

New Zealand’s Progress

New Zealand players also made impressive gains, with Matt Henry climbing to ninth place after an outstanding performance in Bengaluru, where he claimed eight wickets. Rising stars Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway also saw significant improvements in their Test rankings after their contributions in New Zealand’s historic eight-wicket victory over India.
