Karthik Meiyappan Hattrick: In December 2020, he was one of ten cricketers to be awarded with a year-long part-time contract by the Emirates Cricket Board. In October 2021, he was named in the UAE’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2021 Summer T20 Bash tournament. He made his T20I debut on 8 October 2021, for the UAE, against Ireland. During his time playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2020, Karthik Meiyappan learned a lot. The management of RCB in the United Arab Emirates asked Meiyappan to serve as a net bowler.

The spinner, who was born in Chennai, made his ODI debut for the UAE against the United States of America in December of last year at Sharjah. The leg spinner has taken six wickets at an economy of 4.12 in four ODIs so far for UAE.

Karthik Meiyappan told Khaleej Times that bowling to legends like AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Aaron Finch gave him a lot of experience. He endeavored to acquire every nuance from the batters. Meiyappan maintains that he improved his game by giving the high-quality betters his best effort.

The experience I’ve gained while staying at the RCB cannot be adequately described in words. It was absolutely fantastic, and it was an incredible experience for me to try to learn from the legendary members of the squad. In the two months I spent there, I learned a lot. Certainly, there was a significant difference. To bowl to them, or at least attempt to bowl to them at a decent level, I had to bring my A-game.

They approach the practice sessions with a completely different level of vigor. It is similar to a match.You are aware that I was working out with players who had incredible skill. Just bowling to them has helped me improve my game, Karthik Meiyappan told Khaleej Times.

While bowling to Kohli and de Villiers, the 20-year-old Karthik Meiyappan was extremely motivated. Meiyappan wants to be more than just a net bowler and wants an IPL contract.

In addition, the youngster improved his bowling by studying under two well-known international leg-spinners; Yuzvednra Chahal and Adam Zampa. The two spinners taught him the pace and length variations.

“It is without a doubt an excellent source of motivation, similar to how simply experiencing the IPL makes you hungry. I want to accomplish more now. I want to be a part of the team in the future, not a net bowler. “Being a leg spinner was actually the icing on the cake for me. Chahal and Zampa were fantastic, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Karthik Meiyappan added, “I talked a lot to them about leg-spin bowling and cricket in general.”

RCB beat Kolkata Knight Riders on the net run rate to make the playoffs, finishing fourth.In the Eliminator, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Virat Kohli’s team.
